Metro Dance Company is a Plymouth dance studio offering year-round ballet, tap, jazz, modern, cecchetti, lyrical, pom, pointe, hip hop, ballroom, pilates and yoga classes for students of all ages and skill levels. We have competitive, recital and technique classes and private lessons can be scheduled our customers' schedules. The studio also offers lessons for brides and grooms looking to learn the basics of ballroom dance and/or to have their first dance choreographed.

Observer: How did you first decide to open your business?

Metro Dance: The studio opened in 1997 and was purchased by the current owner in 2006.

Observer: Why did you choose Plymouth?

Metro Dance: Plymouth is a friendly family-orientated area with a thriving downtown business community. Local businesses are always helpful and looking for ways to work together.

Observer: What makes your business unique?

Metro Dance: Metro Dance Company offers a class for everyone. Younger dancers can start a creative movement dance class at age 2 Ω . Elementary, Middle and High School age dancers have their choice of recital, competitive and technique dance classes in a variety of styles and skill levels and adult dancers have their choice of monthly, 8-week and drop in dance and fitness classes. Couples can take group or private ballroom lessons to learn the basics of salsa, swing, waltz, tango, etc.

Observer: How has it changed since you opened?

Metro Dance: Over the past 2 years, the studio has seen in increase in the demand for adult dance and fitness classes and ballroom lessons for all ages. The studio has increased staff and class offerings to meet the demand.

Looking for a unique gift idea for an engaged couple? Try our gift certificates for wedding choreography ballroom lessons.

Couples schedule classes around their availability and work with our ballroom instructor to choreograph their first dance for their wedding reception. If couples prefer, they can also choose to learn the basics of salsa, waltz, tango, swing, etc.

Gift certificates are available in any denomination and our office staff can work with you to make sure the amount covers exactly the gift you would like to give.

Dance Classes for Ages 2 1/2 - 5

Yes, we still have available class spots for dancers ages 2 1/2 - 5!

Combo 1, which combines ballet, tap and acro fosters creativity, freedom and expression in movement, and a love for dance while teaching sharing, taking turns, waiting in line, and socializing and cooperating with classmates. Dancers meet each week and will participate in the annual dance recital in June 2011.

Your Toys for Tots Donations are Greatly Appreciated

Our studio is excited to be collecting donations for Toys for Tots again this year. If you would like to participate, please drop of new, unwrapped toys to the studio now -December 10.

The organization can not accept stuffed animals and is always short on items for children ages 9-12.

Wedding Choreography Dance Lessons

Getting married? Let us choreograph your first dance as husband and wife. We'll work with you to teach you the basics of the Waltz, Cha Cha, Salsa, Swing, Foxtrot, Rhumba and/or Tango, choreograph your first dance to your wedding song and work with you until both the bride and groom feel comfortable.

Don't want a traditional first dance? No problem! We've helped couples surprise their guests by incorporating an upbeat hip hop portion in to their dance or mixing a romantic waltz with a sexy tango.

Daddy/daughter, mother/son and bridal party choreography and bachelorette parties also available.

Join Us for Watch Week!

Each year dancers' families are invited to join in on classes for a week for a chance to see their son/daughter/granddaughter/sister, etc in action.

This fall our annual Watch Week will be Monday November 15 - Saturday November 20. Cameras and video cameras welcome!

Our competition team, Company will also be hosting a bake sale during Watch Week. All funds raised will be used towards spring competition entry fees.

It's time for Secret Pals again!

Each year our studio's competitive dance team, Company participates in our annual tradition of Secret Pals. Each Company member chooses the name of another Company member out of a hat and leaves small anonymous gifts for them each week Thanksgiving - Christmas break. During our January holiday sleepover everyone gives their Secret Pal one last gift and learns who was their anonymous gifter through the holidays.
